Who will provide?

According to the dictionary, the Greek word for ‘Supply’ is, ‘plēroō’ which means, “To make full, to fill up, to fill to the full, to cause to abound, to furnish or supply liberally.” A ‘Supplier’ on the other hand, is described as the person or organization that provides something needed. I don’t have to dig deeper to find an answer. There is only one answer for the question asked in the title: Who will provide? God will. He is my Supplier.

God is the Source. And He will supply. We won’t lack anything because He is the filler of our cups. Not only will God cause us to abound in spiritual things, but also in natural things. God is the one who can make a way in the wilderness and send rain in a drought. We can choose to trust in Him and choose not to fear. The Lord never runs ‘out of stock’ and He will never send you an advertisement ‘while stock lasts’.

He has an endless supply. His storehouse is filled to the brim – and it has no end. It is just beyond our comprehension that He ALWAYS has the capacity and the capability to supply. ‘Lack’ is something that is not part of the God we serve. The only lack that we will ever find, is a lack of faith and trust in this ALMIGHTY, GOOD GOD.

For almost a year, I have been praying and looking for a new house. I went to the Father with a list of my wants and needs, but what I saw in my price range, was either ugly, small, or needed a lot of TLC. Then He surprised me with all that I’ve asked for and more – a perfect palace.

Nothing can compare to God’s Authority. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19

1. Choose to trust Him.

2. Meditate and intentionally focus on His Word. His Word has no shortage. His Word is inexhaustible. His Word is full of revelation, full of power and full of Authority.

3. Surrender to Him and He will direct your path and make it smooth.

“Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.” Matthew 6:8

I applied for a loan, but asked God to shut the door if I bite off more than I can chew. During these last 4 weeks, my faith and my trust in the Father were tested to the limit. Unfortunately, it seems as though they are much more limited than my Father’s supply. To hang on, I have been clinging to the fact that He will never bring something across our paths, that He does not already know about and has the outcome ready. While praying about this new door opening, I had to ask that His will, and not mine be done. Like Peter, I stepped out of the boat and prayed that He would rescue me if it was a decision that would cause me to drown.

I was reminded of God’s supply when feeding Elijah. He went to the brook as God commanded (1 Kings 17:3). Because of his obedience, God supplied. The self-interested, carnivorous ravens became selfless and fed him. God uses any opportunity to show His supply and favor. God will make your enemies your footstool. He changes the natural to supernatural.

“You will drink from the brook, and I have directed the ravens to supply you with food there. So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan and stayed there. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning ad bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.” 1 Kings 17:4-6

Our Heavenly Father knows what we need before we ask. He knows about your struggling faith. He knows what you lack. He knows your beginning from your ending. The end of the matter is better than its beginning (Ecclesiastes 7:8). Trust His process.

Matthew 6:26: “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”

So often we expect an angry God saying ‘Oh you of little faith”, but yet again God confirmed His love and care for me on Tuesday morning when I woke up. He reminded me GENTLY that He will never leave my side. I heard a message coming through via whatsapp. It was from a prayer warrior – a friend of a friend who became a friend. It read: “Mornings, mornings. I had a beautiful dream about you last night. Jesus is with you, don’t be afraid.” I was humbled.

Let this sink in. God LOVES us. He knows our thoughts. And His thoughts and plans are bigger than ours. You may quietly wonder if God has left you or forgot about you – like Job. (Job 23:8–9). Or you may be like a doubting Thomas (John 20:19-29) and seek proof. Please remember…we cannot look at only one chapter in each of these men’s lives. Job was blessed with twice as much in the end. And Thomas clearly expressed his love for Jesus when Jesus planned to return to the animosity of the Jews in Judaea when he stated: “Let us also go, that we may die with Him” (John 11: 5-16).

He is our Father who says: “I will go before you and will level the uneven places; I will shatter the bronze doors and cut the iron bars in two. I will give you the treasures of darkness and riches from secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord. I am the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.” Isaiah 45:2-3

AND

“Be strong and courageous; don’t be terrified or afraid of them. For the Lord your God is the one who will go with you; he will not leave you or abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31:6

God knows where we are and where He is taking us. If you have ever asked God to show you that He’s got your back, you are not alone. In fact, it is such a common occurrence that God speaks a lot about it in His Word. When you can discern how God providentially works in history as well as in the present, you are able to live life with purpose and peace. Even in those moments when you don’t seem to see God, or hear from Him at all, you will know that He is pulling the strings behind the scenes.

You may feel insecure, but God is your security.

You may feel anxious, but God is your peace.

God rules over and in all. He is seeking your greater good, for His glory.
